I really liked the volume 3D effect and the representing of veins of this first swatch I made. Yet I saw a lot of room to improve the technique so the message would come across even better. So I've woven in way more and thinner yarns to get that vein & guts look.
To create the story of human insides getting overgrown by plants I used a similar technique to the veins swatch but instead of weaving in yarns as veins I embroidered roots, branches and flowers on the knit and ladders.
To have a variety in yarns and to also have a ore delicate and romantic look I did the same technique but with shiny and delicate yarn and with way wider ladders to have a more airy feel for the textile.
Since I really like this knit and embroidery combination and also got very positive feedback on it, I decided to make this technique take over stage 3 as well, where I had shades of green dominate the yarn choice.
For the swatch below I chose to have "roses" embroidered so the colors would still remind of what once was, humanity in blood.
To combine the flowers and biomaterial with the knit organically I got inspired by the ladder technique I've been using and casted the agar foil into a gap I created in between the ladders. I cut open the floats of the fair isle to have a more efficient way of getting small veins hanging from the knit.

I created a ladder knit swatch to represent veins. I really like the look and how much it resembles the anatomy. To achieve this vision I have in my story of plants overgrowing the veins I placed pressed leafs on the knit and casted agr foil on top.
For the round agar foils and transparent flower "bra cups" I placed pressed plants and yarn on the back side of a plate and then casted the ager foil on top.
To shape the circle into a cup I use a bra cup sized metal bowl, placed the foil on top of the back side and then heated it up with a blow dryer so the foil became flexible and would lay over the shape. Then I created pleats which I pressed down with my finger. After I had the desired shape I put it in the fridge to harden.
